Poetry of the Self
Choice
she was scared
of who she might become
if she truly followed
the fire of who she was
her heart was burning
longing for decision
but the jump, the risk
it was too domineering
and then a thought
a “what if” ephifany
water instead of fire
slowly changing through eternity
not drive or power
a conscious choice instead
then a jump from the bridge
to new destiny ahead

Embrace the Dark
In my darkest times, I do not see
The presents joys - don't come to me
The pasts joys - don't inspire peace
My heart heavy with caprice
For the road I took less taken
My reason - began to awaken
In rose tint glasses - I was uncouth
My eyes opened to the truth
A good girl, trained to always appease
To fade to the back - remaining unseen
Becoming perfection in expectation
Quiet, silent - anticipation
Unknown to them - the dark grew on me
I began to embrace - inevitability
Clipping my wings - they fell to ash
A broken halo - threw to trash
Glorious light turned ablaze
Swallowed by the darkness and its ways
So I gave up heavens golden gates
To embrace the devils darker tastes
And from that fire, and shadows behold
My truest self did finally compose
